Microdermabrasion Acne
Microdermabrasion is a mini procedure that involves the skin being
"sandblasted" by aluminum oxide crystals, baking soda, salt or corn cob
granules to remove the stratum corneum (top) layer of the skin; dead skin
cells. Microdermabrasion also promotes the production of new cells in the basal
(deepest) layer of the dermis. This procedure may not give everyone the same
results but if you have the money it is a nice treat and requires no down time.
It can clean your pores incredibly and hinder any future breaks outs if used on
a regular basis. Microdermabrasion also stimulates collagen net working to
further even out skin texture and appearance.
Micro-dermabrasion is a relatively new technique to resurface and smooth the
skin.
Micro-dermabrasion uses a principle where the machine is used firstly as a
cleansing device using the same principle as a vacuum cleaner to clean the skin
and empty out the blocked pores with a gentle vacuuming action. This is quite
comfortable and can be done without anaesthesia. When treatment is completed
the skin has a red healthy glow due to the increased circulation in the skin.
This increased circulation brings with it oxygen and nutrients to refresh and
regenerate the skin.
In the second phase of the treatment a fine jet of aluminium oxide crystals
are sprayed on the skin. This has the effect of gently smoothing the skin
surface and removing the outer layer of dead skin cells. With repeated
treatments this results in a permanent smoothing of skin surface
irregularities.
This acne scar treatment option improves overall skin tone and lustre and
appears to help superficial mild acne scars. It also works best if you get a
series of at least 6 peels, having one every 1-2 weeks. It uses very fine
aluminum crystals to create a micro dermabrasion effect on the skin. Although
the face is the most common area, other sun damaged areas such as the neck,
chest, arms and hands may be treated. The effects may be more pronounced than
glycolic acid peels, and should be used for those patients who do not yet
require laser skin resurfacing or who do not want to deal with the longer
healing time.
is particularly popular among younger individuals with mild skin damage
seeking to preserve and maintain a youthful complexion. Essentially,
microdermabrasion involves brushing the face with sterile micro-particles to
abrade or rub off the very top skin layer, then vacuuming away the particles
and derm-abraded skin. Experts believe the procedure works best to polish and
soften fine lines and improve dull skin texture. In most cases, a minimum of 4
to 5 initial treatments, seven to 10 days apart, is necessary to achieve
optimal results.
